AS-Motor – the number 1 for lawn mowers and high grass mowers

Introduction:

AS-Motor is a leading brand of specialised mowing solutions. AS-Motor and EGO have been working together to find a solution for the electrification of AS-Motors walkbehind mowers. The project started with the AS-Motor AS 510 Mulching Mower. Today the EGO PU2700 power unit is used on 10 models within the AS-Motor portfolio and on many other products of other brands.

About AS-Motor:

For more than 60 years AS-Motor has built a reputation of delivering professional mowing solutions when it comes to cutting tall grass and lawn in steep slopes. Starting with the development of its own proprietary 2-stroke engine, AS-Motor has been at the cutting edge of the industry. Since 2021 AS-Motor joined the AriensCo family of brands. AriensCo is a family-owned, multi-brand company and an expert in the core segments of mowing, lawncare and snow removal.

The challenge

For decades, gardening and lawn care professionals have relied on the powerful machines from AS-Motor, which are powered by 2-stroke and 4-stroke engines. AS-Motor wanted to offer a more sustainable solution alongside the combustion engine. This solution had to be capable of working under tough conditions such as steep slopes while cutting tall grass with the same performance and durability as customers has previously experience with an AS-Motor product.

The solution:

Following initial talks between with AS-Motor, EGO started developing the PU2700 vertical shaft engine. After intensive testing together they found out that the mowing performance of the electric solution was impressive. Because the EGO power unit doesn’t contain any fuel or oil, working on slopes doesn’t compromise the running and durability of performance. In addition to the performance values, the easy integration of the power unit was a key for AS-Motor to quickly implement it in a variety of machines. That is why AS-Motor now offers a total of 10 models with this power unit. AS-Motor is already seeing the advantages enjoyed by its end users since working together with EGO. Offering a system that can be used all year round and with different applications is the best way to working in an environmentally friendly way.  This is not only noticed by the media and users, but also through the test community from the Demo Park exhibition. For that reason, AS-Motor has won the Gold Medaille of Demo Park 2021 with their EAllmäher range (AS 21 EAllmäher, AS 62 EAllmäher and AS 63 EAllmäher), which are equipped with the EGO PU2700 power unit.
