Belgium manufacturer ELIET is best known for his smart solutions such as chippers/shredders and a line up of high-end lawn care equipment and debris clearance. It has a wide product offering that caters for a variety of innovative solutions.

ELIET, based in Belgium, has built up a reputation of influencing the global market with their award-winning products since 1980. When developing their products, ELIET has always kept to the same philosophy: the product should be simple and high-performance with the emphasis on operating comfort and unique technology, must be safe and user-friendly, and should offer best value for money.

The Challenge:

With their entire range of equipment, ELIET has always strived to create a solution, which could be implemented easily and efficiently. Their product design favours lean manufacturing processes by limiting complexity and part diversity.  Their desire to switch to a electric-powered solution meant that the Powered By EGO solution was considered.

The Solution:

The EGO power units are a “plug and play” solutions. In most implementation, only minor changes are required necessary, to install and apply the controls. This flexible solution brings important advantages for the development and production costs.

Introducing his model Maestro E-Power, ELIET was able to bring to market the very first battery-powered shredder for residential use. Originating from the Maestro Country, Maestro E-Power is equipped with EGO’s PU2700 series power units. The power units have similar mounting methods and share a universal output shaft size.  The redesign needed to make this swap from ELIET existing combustion engine powered machine to battery powered could be limited.

With the EGO power unit on board, the shredder provides equivalent power to the ICE version but with even better cutting capacity performance. The electric motors provide a better user experience for both residential and professional users.

After this success, ELIET is now implementing EGO power units across their full line up, not only PU2700 vertical shaft power units, but also the PU2710 series horizontal power units, dependent on a tool-by-tool basis.

ELIET has already noticed that end users and rental companies have less down time caused by the operators’ failures in using the wrong fuel and lubricants, as well not following regular maintenance schedules.
